CREATING AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
VIRTUAL REALITY AND AUGMENTED REALITY CONTENT TO TRANSPORT YOUR AUDIENCES INTO THE FUTURE
As virtual reality technology becomes more accessible, and therefore more widespread, businesses in all sectors are exploring its many uses. Architecture & Property Marketing have quickly emerged as one of the most immediate and obvious applications for this technology, which has the power to transport audiences into a world that doesn’t yet exist.
When you put on a Virtual Reality headset for the first time, and find yourself immersed in a virtual world, you can’t help but take notice. Virtual Reality has the power to transport us into the future in a way that flythroughs and videos simply cannot match.
It’s the experience of “actually being there” that makes Virtual Reality such a powerful sales or presentation tool, because it affects us on an experiential level.
With no imagination needed, your viewers are dropped into the centre of your vision, able to look around your new development site as if they are actually standing on the street or walking in the rooms. They are immersed, mind and body, in the environment – and this is powerful because it tricks the subconscious mind into believing that it’s real.
Being in a virtual reality environment forms memories in the brain, memories of actually being there and how it makes you feel, which is quite different from the memory of watching a presentation on a screen.Dawn Lyle
HTC VIVE VR HEADSET
The Vive is a tethered VR system, which means it is wired into a computer, making it less portable but also a whole lot more powerful than mobile solutions. With a virtual reality experience developed for the Vive, your viewers find themselves immersed in 3D space, able to look and move around, as well as navigate and interact using handheld controllers. A Vive system can be installed in your sales suite, or set up at events and exhibitions, providing a seriously engaging experience for modern audiences.
SAMSUNG GEAR VR HEADSET
The Samsung Gear is a popular VR headset that your Samsung S7 mobile phone clips in to. The content is delivered as 360 video – a series of camera viewpoints or a travelling walkthrough of your new developments, during which the viewer can turn their head to look around them in any direction. Very immersive, portable, and requiring no interaction from the ‘wearer’, this is a great solution for those just dipping a toe into the exciting world of virtual reality.
HOLOLENS AR HEADSET
The Microsoft HoloLens is an Augmented Reality headset, which means it’s more like a visor – you can still see the room around you. In an AR experience, virtual content is overlaid onto your view of the real world (whereas in VR, the virtual content completely replaces your view). This is a powerful mobile system – all the technology is built into the visor, so no phone or PC required. It’s also a collaborative system, so you can share your experience with other people for meetings and presentations.
